Dhow Tour

Spice Tour
A visit to Zanzibar would be incomplete without getting to know its spices. Cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and many other spices have been part of Zanzibar history and essential ingredients in the local cuisine since the 16th century.

Changuu – Prison Island
It is a small island just off the coast from Stone Town. Learn its infamous history as a prison for rebellious slaves in 1860s and then as a quarantine station for yellow fever cases, see giant tortoises up to 250 years old and feed them, go snorkeling on colourful coral reef.

Dolphins at Kizimkazi
Try your luck at spotting wild dolphins from a boat, follow them as they jump out of the water and catch the waves and then go swimming with them!

Jozani Forest & Chwaka Bay
National Park
Walk through the remnants of the indigenous forest with a guide, watch Kirk’s Red Colobus, a kind of monkey unique to Zanzibar, as they jump from one tree to another, playing and grooming or taking it easy in the shade, visit the mangrove forest and learn why it is so important for the island’s ecosystem.

Ecocultural Tour in Jambiani and Paje
Jambiani was made out of the fusion of four smaller villages, it’s the longest on the island and one the oldest on the East Coast of Zanzibar. Wander through its narrow streets and pathways, enjoy the relaxed feeling, meet the friendly locals and then visit the Seaweed Centre in Paje to learn about seaweed gardens and seaweed use in medicine and cosmetics.
You can also join the local women and help them on the plantations (low tide only – please book in advance).

Stone Town Tour & Forodhani Gardens Night Market
Wander through its narrow, cobbled streets, discover its fascinating history, enjoy its cafes and restaurants, browse for souvenirs and art pieces in tiny shops and markets fragrant with spices. And then enjoy sunset from the Forodhani Gardens and watch them coming alive in the evening with food stalls where you can taste traditional food, seafood and meat BBQ specialties plus piles of chips, samosa and much more!

Safari Blue Dhow Trip
Full day boat trip on a traditional hand built mahogany sailing dhow around Menai Bay. You will enjoy guided snorkelling, relaxing time on a sandbank, mangrove lagoon swimming, baobab climbing and ice-cold drinks and water. Lunch is served at a desert island restaurant and includes a delicious Zanzibar seafood bbq lunch with grilled fish and slipper lobster, a tropical fruit tasting, coffee and Amarula liqueur.
Menai Bay Conservation Area is home to an impressive array of corals, fish, mangrove forests, idyllic sandbanks and a sea-turtle breeding area. Dolphins can be spot here.

Mnemba Island
One of the best diving and snorkeling sites in Zanzibar, it’s the ultimate tropical paradise.
The island is privately owned but you can enjoy its amazing underwater surroundings.

Chumbe Island
Chumbe Island is a small privately owned island a few kilometres off of Stone Town. Known for its ecological innovation and exceptional coral reef, Chumbe Island is the first private marine park in the world. The island is the home to over 200 species of coral, 400 species of fish as well as the extraordinary endangered coconut crab.
The park is run by the non-profit organization Chumbe Island Coral Park Ltd, which conducts marine research and small amounts of eco-tourism on the island. This is the reason why only a maximum of 14 visitors per day are allowed on the island in order to protect its fragile ecosystem.
Make sure you book at least 2 days in advance. Price includes all transfers, entrance fee to the Coral Park, lunch and soft drinks, guided snorkelling with use of equipment, guided tour in the island’s coral rag forest and lighthouse.

Nakupenda Isles Safari
Enjoy a full day sailing trip in a comfortable dhow boat. Leaving from Stone Town in the morning, the trip starts with a guided tour on Prison Island (tortoise reserve and prison ruins), breakfast on board with seasonal fruits, delicious snacks and fresh juice and snorkelling in the crystal clear water around Pange Island; a sand bank only accessible in low tide.
