Kim first came to Zanzibar in 2019 to work as a hotel manager. Shortly after, COVID-19 pandemic hit the world and Kim found herself in Zanzibar island during the lockdown, unable to go back to Vietnam. During the lockdown, with the help of her mum, she started to learn to cook all her favourite dishes from home. That was the start of Duyen Vietnamese Homecooking, and a long partnership in the Oasis garden. The rest is an ongoing history that we are writing together every day.
